 Gretchen
FD, FDX, FDCh, FDCh-S, FDCh-G
Gretchen is a dark silver Weimaraner, born in February of 2003.
Her mother is a silver and her father a blue. Weimaraners are a German sporting breed so we felt she deserved
a good German name.
As is typical of her breed, Gretchen is intelligent, athletic, and
has a great nose. But, she also has the Weimaraner traits of getting bored when she is not having fun and
wanting to take the lead in activities with her master.
Gretchen has had Agility training, but she really started to have
fun when she was introduced to Flyball. Running, jumping, playing with a ball, getting treats; what more
could a dog ask for? She quickly mastered all the routine, except giving the ball to her master at the end.
"Keep Away" is her favorite game and can be a strong temptation. So, it was with much pride and excitement
that we celebrated Gretchen's first successful tournament heat in August of 2005. The combination of
Gretchen's maturing, training and finding a food treat that is even more compelling than the ball seems to
have done trick.
