This is a very fast and inexpensive way to have a good supply of small, tasty treats on hand for clicker training.
One package of hot dogs should make about four hundred treats. Use low-fat chicken or turkey dogs, as they have the fewest calories and can be bought for as little as fifty cents a pack.
![]() 1. Partially freeze a pack of lowfat chicken hot dogs. This makes them easier to cut. |
![]() 2. Slice the hot dogs in half lengthwise, then cut the halves into spears. |
![]() 3. Slice the spears into 1/8" thick pieces. |
![]() 4. Each hot dog makes about 50 small treats. |
![]() 5. Bag 'em up and freeze them in small batches. |
![]() 6. When you're ready to clicker train, just grab a handful of treats from the freezer, microwave them for a few seconds to thaw and you're ready to go! |
