Beau is a lean, 45 lb border collie. He is quite laid back for a border collie;
his favorite pastime is to have his belly rubbed. He also likes to play frisbee,
but he seems to think I have an endless supply of them, so there is no reason
for him to bring the frisbee back to me. After catching the frisbee, he drops
it and waits intently for me to throw another. After some coaxing (and reallizing
that I will not throw another one), he will give up and bring the frisbee back.
Beau was given to me by my mother, who was having problems with him jumping her 4 foot fence. She was too afraid he would get hit by a car, so he came to live with me and Maggie in my apartment. Even though we live in an apartment, they have a very full life. Either running in the park, going to visit my horse at the barn where there are many dogs to play with, frisbee, and of course, flyball! Flyball has brought out the true border collie in Beau. He is so competitive, he will even slow down slightly for the dog beside him to catch up, then speed up to beat them. He is so proud of himself when it is a close race and he beats the dog beside him; his face glows! |
